I especially like this shadowbox montage on the wall.

A 1960's East Sussex house was filled with natural wood (reclaimed) and other eco materials. I like homes that look like they could blend in with the outdoors. Love the timber wall behind the bed and the wood-covered kitchen drawers. Also liking the vintage 60's, California vibe in the rooms. (From Living etc. January 2011)

Timbers are also used in landscaping, I believe. Landscaping timbers are available in only two or three sizes. A size must be selected to correspond to the height of the wall. Taller walls use larger, heavier railroad-sized timbers.

Having a log home with wood interior walls isn't nearly as confining as it might appear in terms of decorating. With some creativity and planning, you can choose from an almost unlimited number of comfortable, functional, and attractive decorative styles.

A typical timber studding wall consists of a waterproof breather membrane, sheathing board, structural timber framing, vapour barrier and inner lining of plasterboard.
