I’m a strong believer in timing, serendipity . . . and to everything there is a season. I think there is a synchronicity of how people and events just fall into place.
Recently, during the midst of working away on several new design projects, I was contacted by a major furniture manufacturer’s marketing vice president and she asked me to consider becoming a regular contributor to their company’s blog.
Needless to say, this was such a thrill and honor for someone who happens to love writing, especially when it comes to interior design! While the creative ‘me’ wanted to immediately say “yes!”, the prudent ‘me’ wanted to be sure I would be saying “yes” for all of the right reasons. There are some important core values, within my own company, and I needed to know we could be in alignment.
A great conversation ensued and I was so glad to learn more about them.
Our chat reminded me of how important it is to not only consider a product’s design aesthetic, but also the process and the people behind the products. I believe there should be a strong connection between the consumer and the manufacturer, where the manufacturer can share their stories of inspiration and the consumer can benefit from a deeper sense of participation as they make their interior choices.
I’m pleased to say I’ll be providing you more information, as the months go by, about an eighty-six year-old company that states: “At Hooker Furniture, our mission is to enrich the lives of the people we touch through innovative home furnishings of exceptional value.”
Join me, along with Kim Shaver – Vice President of Marketing & Communications – Hooker Furniture, Trisha Kimerly – President of Whip Smart Creative, Nancy Lindemeyer - President, Lindemeyer Productions; Author, Loreen Epp - President, Room Planners Inc., and other contributors, as we share ways to incorporate beauty, function and enjoyment into your homes!
I’ve got an article up my sleeve with special ideas for Mother’s Day. Be sure to stay tuned to both blogs!
All my best! ~ Wanda
